In collaboration with Kumamoto University, FILKOM to establish Double degree in Computer Science Master Program

Computer Science Master Program at Faculty of Computer Science University of Brawijaya (FILKOM UB) has collaboration with Kumamoto University Japan in the process of double degree program establishment. This is marked by the visit of Kumamoto University delegates to FILKOM UB on Wednesday (30/Mar/2016). On the occasion, being attended also Prof. Mitsuyo Kishida as Director of Joint Education Kumamoto University, accompanied by Prof. Ir. Liliek Sulistyowati, PhD as UB’s Double Degree Program Head.

 

Prof. Kishida was greatly welcomed by Vice Head I on Academic Affairs Ir. Heru Nurwarsito, M.Kom; Head of Computer Science Master Program Tri Astoto Kurniawan, ST, MT, PhD and also Secretary of Computer Science Master Program Fitri Utaminingrum, Dr.Eng., ST, MT. In the meeting, as initial process of double degree program establishment, being discussed a curriculum to be enforced at Computer Science Master Program FILKOM UB and Graduate School of Science and Technology (GSST) Kumamoto University. This is necessary to create the new scheme of curriculum to be imposed at double degree program afterwards. It is planned, in the double degree program, students will take master study at FILKOM UB for a year and a year thereafter at GSST Kumamoto University.

 
Delivered by Prof. Kishida, after the curriculum scheme is approved for study process at double degree program between FILKOM UB and Kumamoto University, then will be pursued with MoU drafting and signing. After the MoU was established, then double degree program could be implemented in various faculties and study programs in UB, such as FILKOM UB.

 
For the double degree program applicants, being imposed some requirements such as minimally International TOEFL 530. In addition, participants must have professor who is willing to become supervisor for the student in question during their study in Kumamoto University. The supervisor determination could be done independently by contact the professor in Kumamoto University via email or with assistance from lecturers of Computer Science master Program who are Kumamoto University alumni. “For requirement, we only accept international TOEFL, not ITP TOEFL or equivalent TOEFL. ITP TOEFL or equivalent TOEFL could be accepted only for students who receive scholarship from relevant institution such as DIKTI scholarship,” Prof. Kishida explained. [dna/Humas UB/trans.
